This term’s topic is called ‘Always winter but never Christmas’. It is based on the book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. During this time we have been writing informal letters. Firstly, the children learnt the features of this genre. Then applied them by writing as Lucy to a chosen person telling her journey to the Professor’s house, another on meeting the residents at the house and what they have been up to and finally explaining her what happened to reach Narnia, meeting Mr Tumnus, the others not believing her and finally how she felt.
The other displays show the children’s fantastic artwork. We have used paint, pastels and pencil to bring to life the lamppost scene as well as to create collages of Aslan.
As part of our Maths and D.T. we have been making biscuits. The children applied their measuring skills to weigh the ingredients.
After a couple of requests from parents, I’ve put together a glossary of terms with examples from the National Curriculum to help you understand what sort of things we are learning in Grammar sessions at school. You can use these to help support your child in their home learning.
To save paper, I am not going to print these for all parents, however if you would like a hard copy, please request one in the morning from Mr. Dallman and we will try and get one to you by the end of the day (technology permitting)!
Thanks all, and I hope you find these useful (and not too intimidating…).
